How did you get involved in the project?
I actually wasn't able to make it to the audition because of school, but Kansas liked my look so she contacted me and said she wanted me to be a part of it!
Did Kansas Bowling's age ever come up during production?
The only reason Kansas's age came up was because it was so amazing she was doing what she was doing at such a young age! There were never any issues regarding age, I just didn't even think of it.
What was the atmosphere like on the set for a movie as kooky as 'B.C. Butcher'?
The set was a lot of fun! It was a beautiful area and everyone in the cast was extremely nice. We joked around together a lot. I feel like I hear horror stories about sets a lot and I'm glad this wasn't one.
According to your IMDB profile, this is your first credit as an actress. Have you done any other work prior to the film that helped you in this role?
I've done mostly stage work in the past; I'm from Minnesota and theater is very big there. Film wise I was in A Serious Man by the Coen Brothers. I've also had roles in a variety of other film projects. I think the role that's most similar to Poppy would have been from stage though: Susan from The Murder Room. Susan was very innocent and naive so I had already played that type of role before.
What was your direction/inspiration for playing the character "Poppy"? Was her personality already laid out in the script for you, or did Kansas allow you to improvise.
I remember being told that Poppy was young and in love, and I basically took it from there! I think it's easy to write Poppy as stupid, but I don't think that's true since she was able to hide her less-than-innocent side from (almost) everyone in her tribe. She's obviously is blinded by her feelings for Rex, and I think a lot of people have been through that before, including me, so it was pretty easy to pull from real life experiences.
How hard was it to keep a straight face when doing scenes with Kato Kaelin?
So hard! Kato is hilarious, the way he is on screen is how he was the whole day!
Plan to continue acting? If so, what should we look out for?
I do! You should look out for some youtube content coming out this year, as well as some other things I can't talk about just yet. Stay updated at my website mollyelizabethring.com or follow me on twitter @mariisuga. Warning though my twitter can get pretty nerdy!
You play a cute red-headed cave woman, so this can't possibly be the first time someone has mentioned that you remind them a bit of Wilma Flinstone
I've basically been compared to basically any redheaded character or person at one point or another, I do want to do a teen-age Pebbles (Wilma's daughter) cosplay at some point actually!
Who's more your type, Barney or Fred?
Probably Barney, I tend to like goofy guys! Though Fred is taller...
Bonus question. What's your favorite Troma film?
B.C. Butcher of course!
