A hero can only be as great as the challenges he overcomes, and what other other hero found within the horror genre has faced challenges on the level that this charismatic S-Mart employee has? Below you'll find our personal favorites of those challenges faced by Ash, in the form of the oozing, maniacal, violent and sometimes hilarious kandarian deadite!

KANDARIAN HALL OF FAME - OUR STAFF PICK THEIR FAVORITE EVIL DEAD(ITE)

September 19, 2016

Jasmine  - Possessed Deer

"I love how the deer looks, but most of all I love how he annoys Ash in the best possible way."

The Kandarian spirits aren't picky when it comes to choosing which host to occupy for their nefarious purposes. In this case, the most harmless deadite of them all is only really effective at hurting Ash's feelings. I'm sure they'll take whatever they can get however.

Jeremiah - The Pit HAG

"Probably the creepiest battle in the series given the claustrophobic, dimly lit pit of death (not to mention the walls, adorned with super sharp rusty spikes, slowly closing in). It's tough enough dealing with the kung-fu action witch soon as Ash gets thrown in the pit, but just as victory seems imminent..."

The hag herself is wonderfully designed, inspiring fear and panic each time she shows up - definitely the stuff of nightmares,  I'm pretty sure this is where, "Nope" was originated from.

David - POSSESSED Ed

"One of the horror moments that will forever be branded into my brain was Ed's transformation. When I was a teen and first started getting into horror, this was an important set piece and the moment that played in it was replayed in my head over and over again. "We are the things that were, and shall be again! Hahahahahaha! Spirits of the book! We want what is yours! LIFE! Dead by Dawn, Dead by Dawn!" The look of Ed after transformation, the dead by dawn chants, and the brutal axing at the hands of Ash will forever be one of my favorite Evil Dead sequences"

That mug...yikes! When Ed shows up, he wastes no time wreaking havoc (poor Jake). Of course, leave it to Sam Raimi to find levity in what should be a downright terrifying moment in the film, when Ed's mistimed attack on Bobby Joe, leaves him gagging with a human hairball.

Sarah - ASH'S EVIL Hand

"...because it's so damn funny!!"

Playing like the douchebag cousin to The Addams Family 's body-impaired star "Thing",  Ash's possessed hand certainly punches above it's weight, not only providing an exhausting challenge for our hero, but also threatening to steal each scene it scurries into. Our only disappointment with this villain, is that it's appearance in the film is entirely too short.

That's it for our picks, but there are sooo many more awesome deadites to choose from, spanning the original trilogy, reboot, and TV series and we'd love to hear which ones you'd pick as your favorite, so JOIN USSSSS and leave a comment below!
